Nigeria Army Properties Limited (NAPL)

The  Nigerian Army (NA) is known to own parcels of land in prime locations at many urban centers. Such prime properties though of high economic value, are either under-utilized or out rightly left unused. NAPL seeks to stop the waste by harnessing their revenue generating potential for the benefit of NA officers ad soldiers. The various available options for the successful implementation of NAPL scheme includes:

          a.      Build, operate and transfer (BOT)
          b.      Lease.
          c.       Joint Venture

The joint venture partners will be expected to be those involved in property development with versatile knowledge in project scheme. Income generated from the NAPL schemes would then be used to subsidize other NA welfare schemes.

29.    Command Guest Houses. The NA has Command Guest Houses in Abuja, Kaduna and Lagos. These Guest Houses were established primarily to generate revenue and to meet the accommodation needs of personnel in transit. The guest houses are currently ran on contractual basis by private organizations. NA is not involved in the day to day management of the business, but receives income in the form of a rental payment. It was confirmed that the guest houses are yielding good steadily.

30.    Mammy Markets. Mammy Markets form an integral part of most NA units across the formations. The markets serve as economic and social centers. They are therefore a veritable source of revenue for the NA if properly managed. Various means of harnessing the revenue potentials of the markets have been suggested. Involvement of private property developers was canvassed. NAPL is working out a process to standardize the management of the markets as they are.
